What is Skin Tag Removal

Skin tags are common, benign growths that can catch on clothing, jewelry, or simply bother you cosmetically. With CO₂ laser removal, we use a focused beam of light to precisely remove the tag at its base while limiting impact on the surrounding skin. The area is usually numbed beforehand, the tag is treated in seconds, and a small scab forms as the skin heals.

Frequently asked questions

Most skin tags are harmless and don’t require treatment. Removal is typically elective – done because they catch, bleed, irritate, or you simply don’t like how they look. If anything about a growth looks atypical, we’ll discuss whether you need a biopsy or dermatology referral instead.

We usually apply a small amount of local anesthetic to keep the area comfortable. You may feel brief warmth or a light sting from the laser, but treatments are quick and most patients tolerate them very well.

The treated spots may look red and form tiny scabs or crusts for a few days. You’ll be asked to keep the area clean, avoid picking, and protect it from sun exposure while it heals. Most people return to normal activities right away.

Once a specific skin tag is fully removed, it typically does not grow back. However, some people are prone to developing new skin tags over time, especially in areas of friction. If new ones appear, they can be treated in the same way.
