What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing uses precise laser energy to remove damaged outer skin layers and stimulate collagen production beneath. The CO₂ laser activates your skin’s natural collagen-producing fibroblasts, which continue rebuilding healthier, firmer skin for months after your first treatment, with gradual improvements in texture, tone, and fine lines. It's one of the most effective treatments available for acne scarring, deep wrinkles, and sun damage.

What conditions does it treat?

CO₂ laser resurfacing may help improve:

  • Fine lines and deeper wrinkles
    Acne scars and textural irregularities
  • Enlarged pores
  • Loss of firmness and elasticity

Frequently asked questions

Most patients can expect 5–7 days of visible healing, with redness and peeling as the skin renews. Deeper resurfacing may require a longer healing period. Redness generally softens within the first week but can take longer to fully fade in some individuals.

It depends on your goals and the severity of your concerns. For mild texture issues, one session with yearly maintenance may be enough. For deeper acne scars or more advanced sun damage, a series of treatments spaced about 6 weeks apart may be recommended.

We apply numbing cream about an hour before treatment to minimize discomfort. You may feel heat and a stinging sensation during the procedure. Afterward, warmth or tightness is normal as the skin begins to heal.

At the end of your session, we apply Avène Cicalfate+, a medical‑grade restorative cream formulated for post‑procedure skin. It helps soothe inflammation, support the skin barrier, and create an optimal environment for healing so you can recover as comfortably as possible.

Most patients start noticing improvements once the skin has re‑epithelialized, usually around 7–14 days after treatment, when skin often looks smoother, brighter, and more even in tone. The deeper benefits come from collagen remodeling, which takes time — skin can continue to improve over the next 6–12 weeks, with many patients seeing their best results around 2–3 months.
