What is microneedling?

Microneedling uses very fine needles to create controlled micro‑channels in the skin. These tiny injuries signal your body to make more collagen and elastin, which can improve fine lines, scars, pores, and overall texture over time.
At Sage & Honey, all microneedling options are performed by trained providers with physician oversight, using medical‑grade devices and depth settings chosen for your skin and stage of life.

Your microneedling options: 1. Classic Microneedling Best for:Fine lines, enlarged pores, mild acne scars, overall texture and tone.We use a medical‑grade microneedling device to create precise micro‑channels across the treated area. This stimulates collagen and can gradually smooth and firm the skin with a series of sessions.
  • Treatment time: 30–45 minutes

2. PRP MicroneedlingBest for:Stubborn acne scars, crepey skin, dullness, patients who like “using my own biology.”We draw a small amount of your blood, spin it to concentrate the platelets, and apply your platelet‑rich plasma (PRP) over freshly microneedled skin. The growth factors in PRP work alongside the micro‑channels to support healing and collagen response.

3. RF MicroneedlingBest for:Mild to moderate laxity, deeper texture changes, more etched‑in lines or scars.RF microneedling combines needles with radiofrequency energy. The needles create channels while RF heat targets deeper layers, helping tighten and remodel the skin more than classic microneedling for the right concerns.

Frequently asked questions

You’ll feel a buzzing or scratching sensation as the device moves across your skin. We typically apply topical numbing beforehand to keep you comfortable. Most patients describe it as very tolerable.

Expect redness, warmth, and a sunburn‑like feeling for the first day or two, followed by mild flaking or roughness for several days as the skin renews. Makeup is usually avoided for 24 hours. We’ll send you home with simple aftercare instructions and what to avoid.

Most people do best with a series of 3–6 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart, depending on whether we’re targeting fine lines, scars, or overall texture. Maintenance sessions a few times a year can help keep results.
